Give it Away

He said to them, "Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don't you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear." "Consider carefully what you hear," he continued. "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you--and even more. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him."

Mark 4:21-25

I remember a conversation with a few friends that happened years ago that I just happened to be listening in on. I can only remember one quote from this conversation as it really hit me the wrong way – kind of like when you hear fingernails on a chalkboard, the quote was – “religion is a personal matter and is not meant to be talked about or shared with others.” This statement could not be further from the truth. I don’t find anywhere in scripture where Jesus tells us to keep the details of our relationship with Him to ourselves and not to share, out of a loving heart when His Spirit directs, how He is changing and transforming our lives back to a relationship with our creator. No, in fact, this scripture this morning tells us just the opposite. Jesus so eloquently states here that if indeed we don’t apply the truth that He has given us to our lives in a way that it can be given away to others by His light being illuminated through the way that we live our lives then even the truth that He has blessed us with will be taken away. God is molding and shaping your heart for a purpose and that purpose is in fact so that others can see Jesus living inside of you and believe! With this in mind, take the truth that Jesus blessed you with today, apply it to your life in order that you can live out this awesome gift of love that God has given you in His Son Jesus Christ and let the whole world see and know that Jesus is alive in you today.
