Servanthood Evangelism

They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, "What were you arguing about on the road?" But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest. Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all."

Mark 9:33-35

The most effective style of leadership today is known as “servanthood leadership”. The most effective way to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who are lost is to show them the selfless and humble all encompassing love of our Creator by treating them as better than ourselves, looking out for their interests and just loving them unconditionally as Christ loves us. This principle goes against every instinct that we have in our flesh to climb the corporate ladder; the hunger for power and control; the competitiveness of wanting to be successful and to be liked; the voices that are screaming all around us to look our for number 1 (ourselves) and to put our own satisfaction and joy and happiness above anyone or anything else. The cool thing, though, is that you can, through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives inside, resist the temptation to promote yourself and refocus your efforts and energy on the development and care of others, it is then that God will elevate your responsibility as well as deepen your knowledge and love of Jesus. If you want to be great in God’s Kingdom then start the process today by looking out for the needs of others above yourself and be a servant of all!
